TAMARAK HISTORY

Tamarak began on September 21, 1980. The original members of the band were Steve Christenson and Mark Hanus on guitars, Hillard Krechlow on bass and Curt Jones on drums. In the beginning Tamarak was mostly country with a little fiftes mixed in.

Like most bands, members came and went quite often. Throughout the eighties the lineup changed frequently. One of the most well known members was Nick St. Nicholas, formerly of the band Steppenwolf. As the eighties progressed into the nineties Tamarak became more of a rock band.

During the nineties the heart and soul of the band was Donna Ruhland on vocals and Curt Jones on drums. Dan Grise and his guitar joined Tamarak in January of 1997. After a brief hiatus in the beginning of 2000, Curt and Dan revived Tamarak with current members Dave Millett on guitar and Allen Lerold on bass. Tamarak is now a pure driving no holds barred rock-n-roll band. They have fun every night putting on their show, and so does the crowd. Please check out our schedule, and come find out for yourself.

"Hey, there’s what's-his-name!"

Gained weight?

Lost some hair?  Lost mobility?  Feeling unpopular?
Don’t remember anybody?
Didn’t join any clubs?  Lost touch with former classmates?
Don’t drink, don’t dance?
Need to start saving now?  If so . . . then,

"
Tuck A Buck A Day Away"!

Well, here is an opportunity to renew friendships or even meet new friends!
We may look different from in our high school days,
so it takes staring at the name tags a little longer,
not to mention putting on our glasses, but who cares.
We may be together as a class just one more time,
so let’s see a turnout as we’ve never seen before!

Do we have your current address, phone, and email?  If not, please update immediately.

Could you please take a look at the
"Missing Classmates"
page to see if you can locate any of our missing classmates.

"If you have never attended a reunion, we encourage you to come to this one and create a "fond memory" for yourself. We guarantee you'll be glad you did!!"

Dan Grise has been playing guitar and singing in bands for more years than he would care to admit. He began his career with a high school friend in a band called Harvey. He went full time with a "back to the fifties"band called The Golden Rock Review. That was in the days when nightclubs had music with the same band six nights a week. Dan and two other members then splintered off to form Sugartree. Four years later, Dan and another member began Visions, which had a seven year run. For more Click Here...

David Millett started his career in music very young in the great state of Texas, learning from local blues masters such as Paul Ray and the Cobras, Denny Freeman, and the Vaughn brothers. He soon got into the full fledged heavy metal scene playing in bands such as Alcatraz, Crystal Image, Traxx, and Savage Grace. Click Here

It was the mid-seventies and many of Allen's friends had purchased their first guitars, but they had no one to provide those sweet low notes. Soon Allen's friend Greg marched him off to the music store, loaned him the money, and bought him his first bass. "It was a red hollow body Epiphone and the strings were about an inch off the fretboard at the seventh fret." Perfect for building up hand strength! Nobody seemed to care if Allen had learned to play the darn thing yet "just come over and jam". Click Here

Curt Jones was born and raised in the small town of Randall, Minnesota. He started playing the drums when he was thirteen and began playing small bars around central Minnesota when he was fifteen. During the seventies, Curt lived and played in the St. Cloud area, working with a band called The Mason Dixon Line, playing mostly 50's and 60's music. In the later seventies he moved on to a band called Back Pages, performing the current music of the time. One thing you might notice about Curt, Click Here...
