Obituary ~ Eugenia Grossman

Grossman, Eugenia Passed away on December 14 from complications due to metastatic endometrial cancer. Genie, as she was known by, was the daughter of Holocaust survivors: Yakov and Eva Sara Grossman. She was born on July 22nd, 1947 in Lvov, which is now a part of Ukraine. She emigrated from there with her mother to the United States after her father had passed away. Her mom has since passed. Genie spent the years since she immigrated in Minnesota working for the U.S. Postal Service for ~37 years, until 2007. Genie is survived by her husband of 31+ years, Kenneth Sachs, and her daughter, Rachel Sachs. One of her happiest moments was being told on her 40th birthday that her 3rd in vitro fertilization attempt worked and she was finally going to be a mother. She is also survived by an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She went to Ireland earlier this year and to Israel, a lifelong dream. She found out very soon after that she was sick again. She did a lot of traveling the last few years before she passed, including a visit to her birthplace. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Bet Shalom Synagogue at 13613 Orchard Road in Minnetonka 55305 on Monday, December 26th at 11 AM. Food and drink will be provided, but donation is encouraged.

They came this way but once. Yet, they touched our lives in many ways while they were here. We shall remain eternally grateful for their friendship and for the influence each bestowed upon us.
