Mr. Reginald Wayne Hempeck, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. A memorial service will be planned for a later date in Spicer, Minnesota. Mr. Hempeck was born in Minnesota and spent most of his life there. He was retired from the U. S. Coast Guard achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Also, he was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was active as a Mason, and a Master Mason, and was a member of the American Legion Post 40. Recently, he and his wife retired to Edenton, North Carolina. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, photography, and journaling; and he was a purveyor of tall tales and witty sayings. He also was the author of an unpublished work of a western historical fiction. Mr. Hempeck was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. Hempeck and Evelyn C. Watford Hempeck. He is survived by his wife, Cheri R. Hempeck, with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage in August; son, Craig W. Hempeck and wife, Nicole; daughter, Cynthia L. Hempeck; grandchildren, Jordan, Charlotte, and Madison; brother, Robert C. Hempeck and wife, Joann; nephew, Nicholas Hempeck and family; niece, Rebecca Sildorff and family; and several cousins and close friends.
